Anyone with a passion for writing, design, photography, commentary or reporting can join the Student Direct team. Whether you want to rave about the state of your university accommodation, or have heard a really good story on the University grapevine that you want to pursue, contact us.
Everybody who writes for Student Direct starts off as a section writer – some write for many sections at a time, others for just the one – spending as much or as little time as they want on the paper. Each section has editors devoted to co-ordinating their team of writers to produce their section of the paper and each sub-editor holds meetings once or twice a week. It’s best to go along to one of these meetings (times are published in the newspaper) or to contact the section editors to express your interest.
Student Direct Positions
Editorial positions are usually decided well before the beginning of the academic year, but please do contact us ASAP if you are interested in any of the following vacancies:
Are you an artist who can see the funny side of things? If you have ideas for editorial cartoons or series that you feel would be appropriate for our publication then we would love to hear from you. This year we want to introduce a range of cartoons to our publication- so get on board for this exciting opportunity.
Any ideas for the Student Direct website? Web publishing is moving at an incredible pace and Student Direct needs people to keep them ahead of the game, who want to be involved in the day-to-day running of the website as well as contributing to the design and layout of the pages. If you are insightful, full of ideas, have an eye for design, or want to be involved in the overall direction of Student Direct rather than in individual sections, then this is very much the role for you. If any aspect of this interests you then contact us to discuss opportunities.
