Laptops and computers were stolen from the University of Manchester’s Ellen Wilkinson building last week.
It is believed that the thieves infiltrated the building through a ground-floor fire exit on Monday 20th October.
“A significant amount of damage was caused to offices on the ground, third and fourth floors of the building and equipment, including a number of laptop computers,” said a University spokesperson.
Security at the University of Manchester quickly responded to the theft on the third floor of the Humanities building. After informing the police, they closed off the affected rooms. Police enquiries are ongoing.
Students, particularly those from the School of Education, were notified of the robbery and had their classes moved accordingly.
The Ellen Wilkinson is situated behind the Students’ Union on Devas Street.
